Green Card Approved Through Adjustment of Status

Barrera Legal Group is proud to share another immigration success. USCIS approved our client’s Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, granting him lawful permanent residence in the United States.

The USCIS approval notice dated November 2, 2025 confirms approval under the category “Parent of a U.S. Citizen.”

This case required careful legal evaluation because the client had prior contact with law enforcement, including:

an older arrest from approximately 2001–2002

a more recent citation for driving without a license

an incident involving public drunkenness

Before proceeding with the green card application, our office carefully reviewed the available records and recommended additional verification of the client’s criminal history, including potential FBI fingerprint checks and court record searches. This due diligence helps ensure that no unresolved issues could affect the immigration case.

After evaluating the client’s immigration history, we determined that he was eligible to adjust status in the United States because he had:

a lawful last entry with a visa, and

a qualifying family relationship with a U.S. citizen child

With careful preparation and legal analysis, USCIS ultimately approved the Adjustment of Status application, granting the client permanent resident status.
