June 25, 2024, Approval of the form I-485 granting Legal Permanent Resident Status

Great News! Another I-485 Application Approved by Barrera Legal Group

At Barrera Legal Group, we are thrilled to share another success story! We have successfully obtained approval for an I-485 application based on our client's previous legal entry into the United States and marriage to a U.S. citizen. Our client has now been granted a conditional green card, marking a significant milestone in their immigration journey.

Understanding the Conditional Green Card

A conditional green card is issued to individuals whose marriage to a U.S. citizen is less than two years old at the time of approval. This status is valid for two years and requires the applicant to take further action to obtain permanent residency.

Next Steps: Removing Conditions

Our client's next step is to file the I-751 petition to remove conditions on their green card. This petition must be filed within the 90-day period before the two-year anniversary of receiving the conditional green card. Successfully removing these conditions will result in a ten-year green card, solidifying their permanent residency status.

Pathway to Citizenship

Additionally, our client will be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship three years after receiving the conditional green card, provided that the I-751 petition was filed on time and approved. This opens the door to becoming a full-fledged U.S. citizen, with all the rights and privileges that come with it.
